Tuscan Wines

100% Organic: Chianti Classico, Chianti Colli Fiorentini, and IGT Toscana

At San Michele, we have always produced Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG, Chianti Classico DOCG, and IGT Toscana wines. The most important grape variety for the estate is Sangiovese, but there are also small plots of complementary grape varieties such as Colorino, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Montepulciano, Malvasia Rossa, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and white grape varieties including Trebbiano, San Colombano, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, and Petit Manseng. The planting density is high (5000-7000 plants per acres), with grape production per plant ranging from 1 to 1.5 kg.  The wines of the farm are fruity and modern, with a clean and round taste that best enhances the traditional grape varieties. After fermentation in steel and cement tanks, the DOCGs are aged in typical 25 hl French oak barrels, while some IGT wines are aged in Barriques and Tonneaux.
